Description
Glen Avon is a cottage dating from the early 19th century. It features painted rubble and rendered cob walls, with a bitumen-coated scantle slate roof that slopes lower at the rear. The cottage has brick chimneys on the gable ends, which include small external king-post trusses. Moulded wooden brackets support the projecting eaves at the front. The building has a double depth plan, likely consisting of two rooms at the front flanking a central passage that leads to a stair between service rooms within an integral outshut, with most chambers located in the roof space. The exterior is two stories high with a symmetrical three-window front and a central doorway. The ground floor openings have pointed arches with blind tympana, while the first floor features small square openings. The door and two-light casements are probably from the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected.
