Description

Croft Cottage is a cottage dating from around the mid-19th century, with a 20th-century extension at the rear. It is constructed from local shale and granite rubble, featuring dressed granite quoins, lintels, and cills, and is whitewashed at the rear. The roof is made of scantle slate with gabled ends and red clay ridge tiles, and there are gable end stacks with short red brick shafts.

The building has a double depth plan, consisting of two small front rooms with a central entrance. At the back, there are two shallow rooms; the right-hand room is part of a short two-storey wing, while the left-hand room is an integral outshut. In the 20th century, a two-storey wing was added behind the outshut, and later a single-storey addition was constructed in the angle.

The exterior is two storeys high and features a symmetrical two-window front with small late 19th-century or early 20th-century four-pane sash windows. The central doorway has a 19th-century four-panel door. On the right side, there is a small first-floor 19th-century horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars. The rear elevation includes a short gable-ended two-storey wing on the left and a single-storey outshut in the angle on the right. The later two-storey wing added to the outshut is hung with asbestos slates, and there is also a later single-storey addition in the angle. The interior was not inspected.
