9/105 Croft Cottage -

GV II

Cottage. Circa mid C19 with C20 extension at rear. Local shale and granite rubble with dressed granite quoins, lintels and cills ; whitewashed at rear. Scantle slate roof with gabled ends and red clay ridge tiles. Gable end stacks with short red brick shafts. Plan: Double depth plan with 2 small front rooms and the entrance at the centre. At the back there are 2 shallow rooms, the right-hand room in a short 2-storey wing, the left-hand room is an integral outshut. In the C20 a 2-storey wing was built behind the outshut and later in the C20 a single storey addition was built in the angle. Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 2 window front with small circa late C19 or early C20 4-pane sashes. Central doorway with a C19 4-panel door. The right-hand side has a small first floor C19 horizontally sliding sash with glazing bars. The rear elevation has a short gable ended 2-storey wing to the left and a single storey outshut in the angle to the right. A C20 2-storey wing has been added to the outshut, it is hung with asbestos slates; and a later C20 single storey addition has been built in the angle. Interior was not inspected.
