Description
White Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with a single-storey outshut added in the 18th or 19th century and a 20th-century extension at the rear. The building is constructed of painted local slate rubble and features a thatched roof that is half hipped at the left end and gabled at the right end, with the thatch extending over the outshut and the rear extension. There is a painted stone rubble stack at the left end with a short shaft and weathering.
The cottage has a small one-room plan and is two storeys high, positioned backing onto the road. It is heated by a stack located at the right-hand west end, and there is a newel staircase in the front right corner. The north front has a large 20th-century extension. The exterior is asymmetrical, originally facing the back, with a window to the left of centre featuring a 20th-century casement. The right-hand end has 20th-century casements on both the ground and first floors, along with a 20th-century glazed door to the left. The outshut at the left end also has a 20th-century glazed door.
Inside, only the ground storey was inspected. It has rough chamfered joists in the ceiling, and the fireplace is blocked. There is a wooden newel staircase present.
