Description

The churchyard gateway and walls located north and west of the Church of St. Peter date from the late 19th century. The gateway features a pair of dressed slate gate piers that are square in shape with chamfered corners and bases, topped with concrete pyramidal caps. It includes a pair of late 19th-century cast-iron gates adorned with fleur-de-lis finials, along with a later wrought-iron overthrow that supports a lamp. The flanking walls, also from the late 19th century, are constructed of slate rubble and topped with pitched slate capping. The walls curve outward on either side of the gateway, and to the right, the wall continues along the west side of the churchyard, rising to a taller section where the churchyard is elevated.
