Description
The churchyard walls, mounting block, and gate posts located to the west and southwest of the Church of St Peter are notable features from the 18th century, with the gate posts and gates dating to the mid-19th century. The walls are constructed of high slate rubble and topped with pitched slate coping, enclosing a churchyard that is significantly elevated above the adjacent road. On the outer west side of the wall, there is a small mounting block made of slate rubble, featuring three steps, although the slate on the lower tread is missing. The gateway at the west end of the churchyard includes mid-19th century granite monolithic gate posts with pyramidal tops, along with cast-iron gates adorned with fleur-de-lis finials. The lock plates on the gates are inscribed with "Lidstone, Kingsbridge." Additionally, the lantern overthrow is likely from the late 19th or early 20th century.
