Description
The west wall and gate of the churchyard of St. Peter date from the early 19th century, with later 19th-century gates. The structure is made of buff sandstone ashlar and features a simple wall constructed of large blocks topped with a chamfered coping. There are ramps leading up to the central gateway, which is approached by two steps. The pair of gate piers are square in plan and topped with pyramidal caps. They hold a pair of wrought iron gates made of vertical bars with pierced pointed heads, a diagonal brace, and a lock rail. At the front face of the wall, there is a small stone mounting block with two steps. This listing is primarily for its group value.
