Description
Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations and additions from the 18th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of washed and rendered English garden wall bond brick and features a Welsh slate roof with two brick chimneys, one of which has zig-zag tilework between the flues. The building has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys high with a two-bay north front. The left end bay projects under a gable and includes a band at the first floor. The windows are three-light casements, with the upper ones featuring glazing bars and set under weak segmental heads. There is a similar window in the other bay. The entrance door is located on the east side behind a lean-to porch, and there are remains of a dentilated band at the rear.
Inside, the kitchen has a cambered chamfered oak fire beam over a low inglenook, which contains a brick fireplace with small rectangular ovens on either side, although the doors are missing. The main room features a chamfered ceiling beam and cross beams with fillet and tongue stops. The firebeam is adorned with bead moulds and has an added cornice. The interior also includes repaired board doors with iron strap hinges.
