Description
The churchyard walls and gates located to the south and north-east of the Church of St Peter were built in 1873 by G E Street. The walls are made of rusticated sandstone with ashlar coping, standing approximately 0.8 to 0.9 metres high. They feature a rock-faced finish and have sloping coping, with some sections stepped up.
The south gateway has a pointed, moulded, and chamfered opening set within a gabled arch, flanked by dwarf offset buttresses and topped with a cross finial. It includes paired, open-panelled gates that are mounted on wrought-iron L-hinges. The north-eastern gateway consists of square section piers with projecting flat caps and features a gate with open, pointed panels.
