Description
The Weaverthorpe War Memorial stands on the verge of the road to the north of the main road through Weaverthorpe, towards the western end of the village. It is a low, white marble Latin cross, with a Lee-Enfield rifle placed over the arm of the cross. The memorial sits upon a three-stage stepped base of the same white marble, with two further steps in a different material beneath. The inscriptions on the front face are dedicated "To the Glory of God, and in Grateful Memory of (6 names) who gave their lives in the Great War, 1914 – 1918." The west face lists one name and the dates 1914 – 1918, and the east face lists three names and the dates 1939 – 1945.
