Description

Sand Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with brick arches over the openings. The roof is hipped and covered in asbestos slate, with brick chimneys rising from the side walls. The house has a double-depth plan, with two rooms at the front, flanking a central entrance hall that leads to a stair hall and a rear entrance hall between service rooms. A small 19th-century extension is located at the rear left.

The front of the house is symmetrical with three windows, and a central doorway. A 20th-century door replaces the original. All the windows, including those at the rear, are original hornless sash windows with glazing bars. These include 16-pane sashes, except for a larger 18-pane sash in the rear stairwell. The window openings are spanned by shallow segmental brick arches. The interior has not been inspected.
