Description
Hendrawna Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse with 19th-century additions located on Perran New Road in Perranporth. The building is constructed of shale rubble with a dressed elvan front wall and has an asbestos tile roof with gable ends. It features gable end stacks with small shafts, and the large right-hand stack projects and has set-offs.
The farmhouse has a two-room plan with a central entrance and porch, likely providing access to a cross-passage. The left room served as the parlour, while the lower right room was the kitchen, both heated by gable end stacks. The two rooms are of similar size. There is a shallow unheated outshut behind the right-hand room, which is probably a 19th-century addition. Additionally, a single-storey outshut at the lower right end has a large stack at the back and was likely built as a kitchen or wash house. The exact position of the stairs is unclear, but they may have been inserted into the passage or possibly in the rear outshut, which could have been constructed for that purpose.
The exterior is two-storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. The windows are 19th-century two-light casements with six panes per light, although the right-hand casement of the central first-floor window has been replaced. The windows are set in their original openings with elvan sills. The central doorway features a late 18th-century or early 19th-century six-panel door, with the bottom panels flush, and is framed by a stone porch faced in dressed elvan with a boarded gable. The large projecting stack at the right-hand end is enclosed in the 19th-century lean-to outshut, which has a 20th-century plank door at the front and a large stone stack at the back. The rear elevation includes a shallow outshut to the left with a lean-to roof. The interior was not inspected and may contain features of interest.
