Description

Worval House is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century, with a 20th-century extension. It is built of painted rubble with granite dressings, and has hipped scantle slate roofs with painted brick chimneys. The house has a roughly L-shaped plan, originally with a single-depth parlour room on the right and a double-depth area on the left, including a kitchen behind the dining/living room, which incorporates an integral rear wing at right angles. A central passage leads to a central staircase. In the 20th century, the building was extended by two bays, set back to the left. The south front is symmetrical, with three windows and a central doorway; there is a 20th-century door and possibly original hornless sash windows with marginal panes. External shutters are present on the first-floor windows. The rear of the house features an original round-headed stair window with Y-traceried glazing to the upper sash. The ground and first-floor windows of the east wall of the wing are original 16-pane sashes. The interior was not inspected.
