Description
59 Fore Street is a house that originated in the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features painted rubble and an asbestos slate roof, with a front lateral brick stack. This building likely represents the original inner room of a three-room house with a through passage; the rest of the house is now Nos. 60 and 61 Fore Street. An entrance has been created on the right side, with a room at the front and rear left, and a staircase situated between these rooms.
The house has two storeys and one window. The ground floor includes a 12-pane sash window and a half-glazed door, while the first floor features a 4-pane sash window. Inside, the passage to the right has vertical panelling. A winder stair is positioned laterally between the front and rear rooms, leading up to the attic. The front room contains a 4-panelled fielded door. The staircase has a newel at the attic level, and the roof is a two-bay structure with one truss visible, featuring halved and principal rafters crossed at the apex with side-pegged upper collar.
