Description

A pair of attached houses located on Fore Street in Maker-with-Rame, likely dating to the 17th century, with alterations probably made in the early 19th century and some 20th-century changes. The houses are constructed of sandstone rubble with a slate and asbestos slate roof, featuring a brick gable stack on the left (originally external) and a rubble stack with a shaped top and slate weathering to the right gable end. The building seems to represent the lower end and hall of a three-room and through-passage house, with the inner room now part of the adjacent property at No. 59 Fore Street. No. 60 is the former passage and hall, while No. 61 comprises the lower end. The facade has two storeys and three windows. The first floor features two 12-pane and one 16-pane sash windows within exposed boxes, while the ground floor has a 12-pane sash window and a half-glazed door with a hood. To the right of the door is a wide entrance with a heavy timber lintel, the former passage entry, and a 16-pane sash window also under a heavy timber lintel. The interior is inaccessible, but may retain features from the 17th and 18th centuries.
