Description

This building is a barn with an attached horse gin house and cartshed, located approximately 40 meters west of Trengove Farmhouse. It likely dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The structure is built from uncoursed granite rubble with large quoins and has scantle slate roofs. The barn is rectangular, oriented on a north-south axis, and consists of two storeys with five bays. It features a doorway in the first bay and square loading doors at the first floor of the second and fifth bays.

The horse gin house is attached to the center of the east side wall and is octagonal in shape with a single storey. It has wide square-headed openings with massive lintels on the north-east and south-east sides, small windows on the north and south sides, and a hipped roof. Inside, there is a large beam along the north-south diameter supporting a crude king-post roof structure, along with a square opening into the barn and a doorway above this opening.

The cartshed is rectangular, covered by a monopitched roof, and has an open east front with four roughly-hewn granite posts and timber saddles supporting the roof on a timber wallplate. The north end is also open, with the roof hipped over it.
