Description
Trengove Farmhouse is a 18th-century farmhouse that has been enlarged and altered. It is constructed from coursed granite rubble with quoins, while the front is rendered and painted white. The roof is made of composition tiles, replacing the original thatch. The building has an L-shaped plan, featuring a long single-depth range oriented east-west and facing south, with a service wing at the east end of the north side.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has approximately four bays. The front displays various altered openings, including a gabled single-storey porch-conservatory in the second bay, shallow canted bays in the first and third bays, and three windows on the first floor that break the eaves. The roof sweeps over these windows, which were likely eyebrowed when thatched. The central window is a tall stairlight, while the window to the right has segmental-headed glazing with coloured margin panes. A full-height lean-to addition covers the right-hand end of the building.
There is a ridge chimney in the center and gable chimneys, with the one at the east end extruded. At the rear, there are remains of a vertical joint in the center of the first floor, with quoins on the eastern half of the range. To the east of this joint, there are two windows on each floor, including a 12-pane sash at ground level, a low 6-pane sash above, and a tripartite sash to the left. To the west of the joint, there are two similar 6-pane sashes on the first floor, and below the further of these is a sashed window featuring intersecting round-headed tracery and diamond-pattern margin panes. Additionally, two large rectangular stone troughs are positioned against this wall. The service wing, which is one and two storeys high, has various altered openings. The interior of the farmhouse has also been altered.
