Description

LEWANNICK POLYPHANT SX 28 SE 2/57 House 10 metres to east of the post office GV II

House. Probably C18, extended in mid C19. Stone rubble, stuccoed, rendered and painted. Slate roof with gable ends. Rendered end stacks. Plan: Probably originally of two room and cross or through passage plan heated by end stack. Extended at front in circa mid C19 with second parallel range of two room and cross passage plan, thereby forming a double depth arrangement. The two principal rooms are in the front, circa mid C19 range and the service rooms in the earlier back range. Exterior: Two storeys. Symmetrical 3-window front. Central C19 6-panel door within C19 open trellis porch with flat slate roof. The porch has a round arched opening with decorative spandrels. Flanked by two C19 12-pane sashes with 3 C19 three over six-pane sashes on first floor. Interior: Not inspected.
