Description

The Cottage is a house that likely dates from the 17th century and was extended in the early 18th century. It is constructed from rendered and painted stone rubble and features a rag slate roof with gable ends, with the taller section located on the right. There is a brick chimney stack at the end of the right side and a projecting rendered chimney stack on the left.

The building has a single depth, two-room layout with a cross passage heated by end stacks. The earlier part of the house is probably the taller right-hand range, which consists of a one-room plan with an entrance passage on the left. The left room is likely a slightly later extension from the early 18th century. In the late 18th or 19th century, a lean-to service outshut was added across the front of the left room.

The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical two-window front, with the windows primarily located on the right side. There is a 19th-century single-storey lean-to extension on the left. The front features a 19th-century panelled door near the centre and a 19th-century three-light casement window to the right, although the glazing bars have been removed. On the first floor, there is a 19th-century two-light casement window near the centre, also with removed glazing bars, and a 20th-century two-light casement window to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
