Description
Rose Cottage is a house dating to 1854, as evidenced by a datestone. It is constructed of painted stone rubble with a slate roof and gable ends. A stone rubble end stack is located on the left side. The original plan comprised two rooms and a cross passage, with the room on the left heated by the end stack. Around the late 19th or early 20th century, the house was extended to the right.
The front facade presents a near-symmetrical two-window arrangement. A 20th-century door is sheltered by a late 19th-century gabled hood, featuring pierced quatrefoils. Two-light casement windows are positioned to the left and right, with similar casements on the first floor. Two datestones are located above the entrance; one bears the inscription "1616" (appears to be a reused stone) and the other "SP." A later extension, dated 1854, has a gable end facing the front. The interior of the property is not accessible.
