Poldale And Cottage Adjoining To Left

Poldale and the adjoining cottage to the left are a house that has been divided into two cottages, dating from around the late 17th century. The building features rendered stone rubble with an asbestos slate roof and gable ends. There is a stone rubble chimney stack on the right-hand gable end. Originally, it likely had a two-room single depth plan, which was divided into two one-room cottages in the early 19th century when an additional cottage was added to the front in a projecting gabled wing.

The left cottage has a 20th-century lean-to porch on the ground floor with a plank door. There is a late 19th-century or 20th-century two-light casement window on the first floor, and above it, a raking roof half dormer with another 20th-century two-light casement. Stone rubble steps lead up to the entrance of Poldale on the right, which has a 20th-century part-glazed door and a similar raking roof half dormer above it with a 20th-century two-light casement. The interior is not accessible. It is reputed to be one of the oldest houses in Polperro, as noted by J. Couch in 1871.
