Description
LANSALLOS LANSALLOS STREET, (south side), SX 2050-2150 Polperro 6/196 Poldale and cottage adjoining to left (previously listed as 21.8.64 Poldale)

House, now divided into two cottages. Circa late C17. Rendered stone rubble with asbestos slate roof with gable ends. Stone rubble chimney stack on right hand gable end. Probably two room single depth plan divided into two 1-room cottages in early C19 when a further cottage was added to the front in a projecting gabled wing (qv Harbour View Cottage). Three storey elevation to cottage on left and steps lead up to the two-storey elevation of Poldale on the right. Left hand cottage with C20 lean- to porch on ground floor with plank door. Late C19/C20 2-light casement to first floor and raking roof half dormer above with C20 2-light casement. Stone rubble steps lead up to entrance to Poldale on right with C20 part glazed door. Raking roof half dormer above with C20 2-light casement. Interior not accessible. Reputed to be one of the oldest houses in Polperro by J Couch in 1871. Couch, J. The History of Polperro 1871.
