Description

This is a pair of cottages, now combined into a single house, located in Colerne. The left-hand side of the building likely dates to the late 17th century, while the right-hand side was built in 1702, with a later 18th-century addition of an upper floor. The construction is of rubble stone with a stone-tiled roof, and a south-facing stack on the left side.

The left-hand side is one and a half storeys high, with a two-window front. It has two coped dormer gables. The windows are small 16-pane sashes with hoodmoulds above, and two-light stone-mullion windows with small panes below. A moulded, flush stone doorcase is on the left, now containing a 20th-century window. A rubble stone vaulted cellar is present.

The right-hand side is two storeys high, featuring a paired 6-pane window on the upper floor, supported by a timber lintel, and a chamfered doorcase with the scratched initials “PID 1702” on the jamb. A 20th-century glazed porch has been inserted. To the right is a two-light stone-mullion window with a hoodmould and small-pane lights. The original section of this side has one rear dormer gable.

Inside the left-hand side, there are bolection-moulded fireplaces on both floors, and a large chamfered spine beam with run-out stops.
