Description

LANSALLOS LANSALLOS STREET, (south side), SX 2050-2150 Polperro 6/64 Hope Cove and cottage adjoining to east (previously listed as Hope 21.8.64 Cove) GV II

Cottage now divided into 2. Circa late C17. Painted and rendered stone rubble with steeply pitched slate roof with gable ends. Stone rubble chimney stack with brick shaft on left-hand gable end. Probably originally a 2-room and cross passage plan, later subdivided into two 1-room plan cottages with a third cottage (Way-Way Cottage, qv) in a wing projecting from the front. There is also a later wing at the rear. 2 storeys and attic 2-window front 1 window on either side of projecting wing, Way- Way Cottage qv. Ground floor, to left of projecting wing, part glazed early C20 door and canted bay window without glazing bars both beneath slate hood. Above, first floor with 2-light casement without glazing bars and C20 window in gabled half-dormer above. At junction with projecting wing, projection possibly for stair or lateral chimney stack. To right of projecting wing steps lead up to entrance of Hope Cove. Part glazed door on right-hand side. C20 window in gabled half-dormer above. Interior not accessible.
