Description
Swan Cottage, located at the rear of Nos. 7 and 8 Windsor Cottage, is a pair of cottages built in the early to mid-19th century. Constructed from slatestone rubble, the first floor features slate hanging, while the roofs are made of rag slate, tarred on Windsor Cottage and cement-slurried on Swan Cottage. These mirror-image cottages have a one-room plan with an opening on the right and a later lean-to at the far right. They are two storeys high and have a three-window range, which includes an additional window above the opening doorway on the right. The cottages feature a pair of doorways that are central to both, each with divided boarded doors. Windsor Cottage retains original 16-pane, 2-light casement windows, while Swan Cottage has later 4-pane, 2-light casements. The interior of Windsor Cottage includes original exposed ceiling joists, floorboards, and a straight-flight stair with winders leading to the chamber above.
