Description
The Vines is a pair of cottages from the 18th century located in Grade-Ruan, Cadgwith. They are constructed of whitewashed rubble with upper walls made of plastered cob and feature a thatched roof. The building has two storeys and presents a symmetrical two-window front on the right, with a cottage on the left.
The left cottage has a 4-pane sash window next to a 19th-century porch supported by whitewashed brick piers and topped with a slate roof. Above the ground floor window, there is a 4-pane casement window. An outshut on the left gable is made of whitewashed rubble and has a slate roof.
The right cottage features two 4-pane sash windows flanking a central gabled 19th-century porch, which has plastered rubble walls and a slate roof. The gable includes timber boarding. The entrance has an early 19th-century 4-panelled door with glazed upper panels. Above the ground floor openings, there are two additional 4-pane sash windows. The thatched roof steps up at the junction between the two cottages, and there are chimneys at both gable ends and at the junction. The interior has not been inspected.
