Description

Cliffe Cottage and Corner Cottage are a pair of cottages, likely dating from the late 17th century. They are constructed of whitewashed rubble with plastered cob upper walls, and have a slate roof, originally thatched. Brick chimneys are located at the gable ends, and there is a lateral stack at the front. The cottages are two storeys high, asymmetrical in design, and feature a three-window range, with all windows being 2-light horizontal sliding sashes containing glazing bars. Cliffe Cottage, on the left, has a plain door to the left of the lateral brick stack rising from the front wall. Corner Cottage, to the right, has a 19th-century wooden gabled porch with a slate roof. A rear extension likely dates to the 18th century. Corner Cottage contains a Cornish range by Ternill and Rogers, Mahers, Redruth, in the fireplace of the south-east gable, and a corner fireplace located below the front chimney stack. The interior of Cliffe Cottage was not inspected.
