Description
Vanstones Cottage and Penwyn is a pair of cottages dating from the 18th century. They are likely constructed from rubble and cob, with plastered and whitewashed walls. The cottages feature a thatched roof, which is half-hipped on the left side and hipped on the right. There are two brick stacks, one axial, located at the right gable.
The layout consists of an attached pair of cottages, each with two principal rooms on the ground floor and a central dividing axial stack. The exterior is two storeys high, with a symmetrical arrangement of windows: two sets of two-light casements with horizontal glazing bars on the first floor. There are two door openings, one situated between each pair of windows, featuring plank doors and open-fronted wooden porches. The forecourt is enclosed by ornamental iron railings, and the ground floor windows have slate drips above them. The interior has not been seen.
