Description

Man-O-War Cottage is likely a late 18th-century farmhouse, originally comprising two cottages now combined into one. It is constructed of rubble stone with a slate roof featuring gabled ends. Brick stacks are situated at the gable ends. The front of the cottage is symmetrical with a two-window arrangement. The ground floor has two two-light casement windows with glazing bars. Directly above are two 12-pane horizontal sliding sash windows. Entrances are located at the rear of each gable end. A small extension has been added at the rear. The interior features simple 18th-century panelling on the first floor and to the staircase. Outbuildings are located to the south-east, built with rubble stone and a low-pitched slate roof, which is now in a decayed condition, with five large vertical slates forming a lateral division. Note that the window on the right-hand side of the upper floor has been altered since the original photograph was taken and is now a two-light casement with glazing bars.
