Description

This is a house dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. It is located in Forrabury and Dunn Street, Boscastle. The front of the house is rendered with a softwood frame, while the side and rear walls are constructed from slate stone rubble. The roof is slate, with a hipped end, deep overhanging eaves, and a gable at the rear. There are two brick side stacks.

The house has a double-depth, two-room plan, with an entrance on the left leading into a passage and a staircase in a shallow projection near the centre of the left wall. The site is steeply sloping, and the ground falls away to the rear, with entrances to the basement both in the front and rear elevations. The property has a basement, two storeys, and is situated on Dunn Street.

The front elevation features a recessed ground storey with two tall wooden Tuscan columns in antis supporting the upper storey. To the right of the columns is an early 19th century 12-pane hornless sash window, and steps lead down to the basement, which is enclosed by iron railings. To the left is a partly glazed 19th century 6-panel door. The basement also has a 19th century 2-light casement window to the right and a partly glazed door to the left. The first floor has an early 19th century 12-pane hornless sash window. The rear elevation includes two storeys and a basement, as well as a small sub-basement.

Inside, the hall and front room have moulded plaster cornices. A semi-circular arch in the hall is supported by 19th century plaster acanthus-leaf console brackets. The front room has a 19th century chimney-piece made of patent stone. The staircase has a ramped rail and stick balusters. The interior and exterior are largely complete.
