Description

Trevian House is a house dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, located on the east side of Forrabury and High Street in Boscastle. The building is constructed from slate stone rubble with ashlar quoins on the first floor and features a slate roof with gable ends and brick stacks, including an additional brick stack on the rear outshot to the left.

The layout is likely a two-room plan with a cross passage, and there are outshots that may have been added to the rear of the left-hand room in the early 19th century, along with another outshot extension on the right-hand gable end from the late 19th century. The house stands two storeys tall and has a regular three-to-one window arrangement, with the ground sloping down to the left. The ground floor openings have dressed stone flat arches, while the first-floor openings are fitted with timber lintels.

On the left side, there is a 20th-century six-over-twelve pane sash window, a central part-glazed 20th-century door, and a 20th-century twelve-pane sash window to the right. The first floor features three twelve-pane sashes. There is also a two-storey lean-to outshot on the right-hand gable end, which includes a plank door on the ground floor and a two-light casement window on the first floor. Inside, there are several cloam ovens in the lean-to outshot on the right-hand gable end, which were likely used as a bakehouse.
