Description
Chy-men is a house and shop that has been converted into one residence, dating from around the mid 19th century. It is constructed of slate-stone rubble and features a slate roof with a hipped end at the front and a lower range on the left with gable ends. The right range has a double depth plan with a central entrance and includes two reception rooms at the front, likely with two smaller service rooms at the rear. The left range was previously a shop with a single depth plan and an entrance on the right.
The building stands two storeys high. The right-hand range has a symmetrical two-window front, with brick segmental arches over the openings and complete 19th-century fenestration. It features a partly glazed 20th-century door and 12-pane sash windows on both the ground and first floors. The left range includes a bay window on the left, a part-glazed 20th-century door to the right, and a sash window on the first floor. The exterior remains unaltered in the picturesque village of Boscastle. The interior has not been inspected.
