Description

FORRABURY AND FORE STREET (west side), Boscastle SW 0990 MINSTER Smugglers 7/41 17.12.62 GV II House. Circa late C16 or early C17, extended on right hand gable end in circa C18. Rag slate roof with gable ends and lower range on right with gable end. Stone rubble front lateral stack on left and low stone rubble stack on right hand gable end. Lower range on right with stone rubble end stack and cloam oven projection. Probably originally two houses; range on left of two room and cross passage plan, the left hand probable kitchen heated by a front lateral stack and the right hand, probable parlour heated by an end stack. The circa C18 right hand range comprises a one room plan with entrance on left. 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2:1 window front with ground rising steeply to left. Left hand range with early C19 16-pane hornless sash on left, C20 door in partly blocked opening and shallow C19 bay window to right with glazing bars. First floor with two possibly C19 2-light casements. Lower range to right with C20 part glazed door and 2- light casements on left with 2-light casement in gabled half domer above. Interior not accessible. An interior inspection may however provide interesting information relating to internal details and roof structure. Particularly unaltered picturesque house in centre of Boscastle village.
