Description
The Lugger Inn and the adjoining house on the left are two buildings that now function as an inn. They date from the early 18th century, with the cottage on the left added in the mid-19th century. The left side features rubblestone that is partly rendered, while both buildings have slurried scantle slate roofs with gable ends, and the left cottage has an asbestos slate roof. A large stone stack, which is partly rendered, is located on the left-hand gable end of the right-hand range, and there is a brick stack on the right-hand gable end. The buildings have a single depth plan that has been altered.
The structure is two storeys tall with a basement and presents an irregular three-window front on the right-hand range. There are double and single plank doors leading to the basement, and rubble stone steps with a reset ornamental wrought iron balustrade leading to the entrance. To the left of the panelled door, there is one timber sash window, and to the right, there are two sashes, with similar sashes above. All the sashes are from the 19th century and feature exposed boxes with two panes per sash.
The left-hand range is three storeys high and has an irregular two-window front with a door near the centre and two sashes on both the first and second floors. All the sashes in this range are also from the 19th century with exposed boxes and two panes per sash. The interiors of the buildings have been altered, with the right-hand range featuring a 19th-century interior. The other interiors were not inspected. The buildings are included for their group value.
