Description
The General Stores is a house that has been converted into a shop with flats above. It features a datestone marked D M 17. 15. The building is constructed from whitewashed rubblestone, with some slate hanging, and has a slate roof that is hipped on the left side and gable-ended on the right. There is a stone stack located in the gable end. The structure is two storeys high with an attic and has a symmetrical front with five windows.
On the ground floor, there are two 19th or 20th-century shop windows, each with four panes, on the left side, and a 20th-century shop window with three panes on the right. Above these windows are two fascia boards from the 1970s. The door is positioned near the centre and features a flat cut stone arch with a broken pediment that includes the datestone and initials. To the right of the main door is a 20th-century partly glazed door.
Above the ground floor, there are five 20th-century timber casement windows, each with one top-hung light. The parapet above has been remodelled and rendered. There is also a 20th-century glazed dormer window with a flat roof situated above. The building is located on Fore Street, where the ground rises steeply to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
