House Adjoining Three Pilchards Inn To The West

This building, known as the House adjoining Three Pilchards Inn to the west, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed from painted stone rubble and features an asbestos slate roof with gable ends. A stone rubble chimney stack with a brick shaft is located on the left-hand gable end.

The house has a two-room plan on the first floor with a central entrance that includes external stairs at the front, above ground floor stables that are now part of the house. The structure is three storeys high and has an almost symmetrical two-window front. The ground floor includes a partly boarded two-light casement window beneath a timber lintel on the left side. In the center, there is a projection with a plank door leading to the ground floor and an entrance porch directly above, locally referred to as an "orrel."

Stone rubble steps on the right lead up to the entrance. The porch features a rendered front retaining wall, glazing above, and a lean-to slate roof. The entrance has a part-glazed four-panelled door, flanked by two 19th-century two-light casements, with two 19th-century four-pane sashes directly above. The interior has not been inspected. A photograph taken around 1860 by Lewis Harding shows the house and Three Pilchards Inn, with fish scales and a fish market in front, as noted in de Burlet's "A Portrait of Polperro" and Lanyon's "The Rooks of Trelawne."
