Description

A war memorial commemorating the First and Second World Wars.

MATERIALS: granite and bronze.

DESCRIPTION: the memorial is of roughly-hewn granite, comprising Celtic cross on a trapezoid-shaped plinth and square base. A bronze plaque is mounted on the south-east face of the base and is inscribed: IN MEMORIAM / GREAT WAR / 1914-1918 followed by the names of the 30 who fell in that war; and below WORLD WAR / 1939-1945 and the 23 names of the fallen. Below this is inscribed: OF PORT ISAAC AND ST ENDELLION / WHO DIED SERVING THEIR COUNTRY / THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE.
