Description
Wesley House is a house dating from around the mid-18th century, located on Middle Street in Port Isaac. The building is constructed from painted and rendered stone rubble and features a rag slate roof on the front slope, with an asbestos slate roof on the rear. The roof has a hipped end on the right and a half-hipped end on the left, and there is a brick chimney stack on the lower right-hand hipped end.
The plan of the house has been altered and may have originally been designed as either a three-room layout with a through passage, with the entrance now moved from the right to the left of the center, or as two one-room cottages with a pair of entrances near the center of the front elevation. The house is two storeys high and has a regular four-window front, with the ground sloping down to the right.
On the ground floor, there is a wide 19th-century eight-pane sash window on the left, a probably 19th-century painted brick porch with a hipped slate roof and a 20th-century door in the right-hand side elevation, a 19th-century four-pane sash window in a probably blocked entrance, and another wide 19th-century eight-pane sash window on the right, all featuring timber lintels. The first floor has four 19th-century six-pane sash windows positioned above the ground floor openings. The rear elevation includes 20th-century full dormers with sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.
