Description

Vesta Cottage is a house dating from 1812, built for R. Trevan. It is constructed of rendered and painted stone rubble with a slate roof, incorporating a half-hipped end on the left and a gable end on the right, and featuring a brick chimney stack on the left-hand half-hipped end. The building has a double-depth, two-room plan, with a likely stair hall on the right side of the entrance. There’s evidence of some remodelling to the left-hand side wall.

The two-storey and attic house presents a regular two-window front. The ground floor features a 20th-century door with a roughly chamfered lintel on the right and a two-light casement to the left. Two-light casements are also present above, with the right-hand casement likely dating to the 19th century and the others appearing to be party repaired or renewed.

The interior remains uninspected. The house is included on the list for its group value and was probably built for Dr Trevan, who resided in the adjacent Trevan House.
