Description
The Dolphin is a house that was later converted into a public house and has now returned to being a private residence. It dates from around the mid-18th century and was extended at the front in the mid-19th century, with a rear extension that includes an outshut, also likely from the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of painted and rendered stone rubble, with the front extension made of painted brick and a slate roof featuring gable ends and a brick chimney stack on the left-hand gable end.
The layout originally consisted of two rooms with a cross passage, which was later extended at the front on the right side with an additional one-room range that has an entrance on the left. The building is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical two-window front, with a projecting extended range at the front. The ground floor features brick segmental arches over the openings, with a 19th-century six-pane sash window on the right. The first floor has two late 19th-century six-pane sash windows. There is a Sun-Fire Office insurance plaque located below the eaves near the center of the elevation. The interior has not been inspected.
