Description
The Fish Orcades shop, previously known as Thomas's Antique shop, is a Grade II listed building located on the south side of Fore Street in Port Isaac. This shop with premises above dates from around the mid-19th century. The front features a stuccoed and rendered softwood frame, while the left-hand gable end is hung with asbestos slate. The building has a slate roof with gable ends and a rendered chimney stack on the right-hand gable end. It likely has a two-room single depth plan, with an entrance to the first floor located to the left of the shop.
The facade is three storeys high with a regular two-window arrangement. The ground floor showcases a late 19th-century shop front, which includes thin cast iron columns and a canted central entrance. The entrance to the first-floor premises is on the left and features a 19th-century panelled door. The first and second floors are fitted with 19th-century four-pane sash windows that lack horns and have moulded exposed sash boxes. The interior of the shop was remodeled in the late 20th century. This building is included for its group value.
