Description

SW 98 SE ST ENDELLION MIDDLE STREET, (east side), Port Isaac 9/91 No 1 (Harbour Cafe) 6.6.69 GV II 2 cottages now cafe. Possibly C18, remodelled in mid to late C20. Rendered and painted stone rubble, with painted slatehanging above ground floor on front. Cement- washed slate roof with gable ends with further parallel range to rear with asbestos slate roof with gable ends. Plan altered. Probably originally two 2-room cottages remodelled to form double depth range with internal partitions removed. 2 storeys asymmetrical 5-window front to Fore Street with probably C19 12-pane and 24-pane sashes to left of centre and C20 partly glazed door to right. First floor with 5 C20 2-light casements with glazing bars. Illustrations of the 1920s confirm that this elevation has been largely remodelled. Interior with light chamfered and stopped ceiling beams to front range and heavier roughly-cut and possibly reused ceiling beams to rear. Important elevations to Fore Street and Middle Street opposite the Platt.
