Description

This is a house dating from around the early 19th century, although it may have earlier origins. It is constructed of stone rubble and cob, rendered and painted, with a rag slate roof, gable ends, and a stone rubble and brick end stack. The original plan was likely a two-room and cross-passage layout, with the room on the east side heated by a gable and stack. It probably originally faced northeast onto a small court accessed from Temple Bar, but was later reoriented to face southeast onto Dolphin Street.

The northwest front is almost symmetrical, featuring a two-window arrangement with 19th-century twelve-pane sashes. The ground floor windows are arched with brick segmental arches. A central 20th-century part-glazed entrance door is present. The southeast front is asymmetrical and set back from Dolphin Street. The left-hand side is slightly forward, with a small gable to the right of centre and 12-pane sashes, along with 20th-century windows.

Inside, the ground floor partitions have been removed. A high-quality circa 1700 timber bolection moulded fireplace is located on the east gable end, though it may have been moved from its original position. Only a partial inspection of the interior has been carried out.
