Description
Beach House is a circa mid-19th century smithy, converted into a dwelling around 1875 by Mr W. Guy for his son, Mark. The house is constructed from rendered stone rubble, with slate hanging to the ground floor and a slate roof with hipped ends and brick chimney stacks. It has a double-depth plan, likely with rooms on either side of a central stair hall. A further 19th-century single-room wing is set back on the right-hand side, with a 20th-century extension situated in the angle at the front. The symmetrical three-window front features moulded exposed sash boxes. The ground floor has two projecting bay windows with 16-pane sashes protected by a continuous slate roof that forms a porch over the central entrance, which has a 19th-century six-panel door and fanlight. The first floor has three 19th-century 12-pane sashes, lacking horns. The set-back right-hand wing is slate-hung with a 19th-century 12-pane sash. A 20th-century rendered extension is located in front. The interior has not been inspected.
