Description
26 Northgate Street is a town house that later became a shop, dating from the 18th century. It features slate hanging on a studwork front and has a steep rag slate roof with a brick stack on the left. The building has a shallow-depth plan and consists of two storeys with a two-window range. The first floor has late 19th-century four-pane horned sashes, while the ground floor on the left has an early 19th-century two-light horizontally-sliding sash. To the right, there is an early canted shop window with small panes, a brick stall-riser, and a moulded entablature with a fascia and a central six-pane door, the top four panels of which have been later glazed. A slate hood is positioned above the door. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to be unaltered and retains many interesting features.
