Description
Berlewen and the former shop to the right is a house and shop that has been converted into a single dwelling. It dates from the mid to late 19th century and has undergone slight alterations. The building is constructed of snecked granite, with part of it covered by scored render, and features a modern tiled roof. It has a double-depth plan, with the shop occupying the right-hand half.
The structure has two low storeys and three bays. The house has a doorway located in the second bay, which is flanked by pilaster jambs and topped with a cornice on consoles. The door is recessed and accessed by three internal steps. To the left of the doorway, there is a four-pane sash window, with two additional windows above. The shop features a double-fronted window with a recessed doorway (the door has been altered) and two-light windows with slender shafts and large, slightly arched lights, all beneath a fascia with a dentilled cornice. There is also one four-pane sash window above the shop. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value with Amber House to the left.
