Description
No. 42 Church Street is a small town house dating from the mid-19th century. It features a stucco front built on studwork, an asbestos slate roof with slightly projecting eaves, brick end stacks, and cast-iron ogee gutters. The house has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high with a two-window range. It retains original 12-pane hornless sash windows set within moulded architraves. The doorway is located under the right-hand window and has a mid-20th century panelled and glazed door with an overlight. To the right of the doorway, there is a former carriage entrance or possible former shop, which now has a 20th-century window on the left and a 20th-century ledged door on the right. The interior has not been inspected.
