Description
Dunnerdake Cottages, located 150 meters to the east of Dunnerdake Farm, is a farmhouse that has been converted into two cottages, dating from around the 17th century. The building features painted and rendered rubblestone with a scantle slate roof, which has a gable end on the left and a hipped end on the right. There is a brick stack at the gabled end and a large rubblestone rear lateral stack topped with a moulded granite double cap. The plan is single depth, and it was originally likely designed as a three-room layout with a cross passage.
The structure is two storeys tall with an asymmetrical four-window front. On the ground floor, there are two 20th-century windows to the left of a gabled rubblestone porch that has a slate roof and a plank door with timber boarding in the gable. To the right, there is a 19th-century three-light casement window with glazing bars. The timber lintels on the ground floor have been renewed. In the adjoining cottage, there is a two-light casement window with glazing bars and a rubblestone porch featuring a corrugated lean-to roof.
On the first floor, the left side has a 20th-century window without glazing bars, while the right side features a 19th-century three-light casement and a two-light casement, both with glazing bars. The interior of the right-hand cottage is in a state of decay, containing a 19th-century stair and a simple timber fireplace associated with the rear lateral stack. The interior of the left-hand cottage has not been inspected.
