Description
Pentillie Park Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubblestone and features a slate roof with hipped ends, as well as a gable end to a two-storey porch located to the left of the center. There is a brick chimney on the left-hand hipped end that has a projecting rubblestone stack. Additionally, there is a rubblestone stack with slate strings in the ridge above the entrance and a rear lateral brick stack connected to an outshut at the back.
The farmhouse has a modified plan, originally designed with three rooms and a cross or through passage layout. A stack has been inserted into the passage to create a baffle entry plan, with an unheated inner room. The building is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with five windows. On the ground floor, to the left of the two-storey porch, there is a tripartite sash window with glazing bars. The porch itself has a partly glazed door that also features glazing bars. To the right, there is a double 16-pane sash window beneath a brick segmental arch, along with a two-light casement window with glazing bars and stanchions beneath a timber lintel.
On the upper floor, there is a 16-pane sash window on the left, two two-light casement windows with glazing bars, one in the gable end of the porch, a double 16-pane sash window, and a three-light casement window with glazing bars. There is a blocked fireplace at the rear of the entrance that is over six feet deep. The interior has only had the entrance hall and lower room inspected, with fireplaces covered. The farmhouse remains largely unspoilt and is likely to contain several interesting internal features.
