Description
Cottage, dating from around the 17th century, with an extension added to the rear in the 19th century. Restored in the 1970s. The cottage is built of rubble stone with a steeply pitched slate roof featuring gabled ends. A large stone chimney is on the left-hand gable. Originally a single-depth plan, the layout has been altered. The front is asymmetrical, with two windows. The ground floor has a two-light casement window on the left and a 20th-century glazed door on the right, sheltered by a sloping slate hood. Above, a three-light mullion window on the left has chamfered mullions, stanchions between, and diamond leaded glass. To the right is a three-light casement window with glazing bars. On the left-hand gable there is a 20th-century three-light casement window with glazing bars, a chamfered timber lintel, and a slate hood. Above this is a 19th-century two-light casement window with HL hinges, a chamfered timber lintel, and a slate hood. A very small window is located in the attic. An outshut, or service wing, extends to the rear, with a first-floor level accessible by external rubble stone steps. A rubblestone wood store to the rear has a half-hipped slate roof. The main room has chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops. The fireplace has renewed jambs, and a clom oven is present. The roof timbers were not inspected.
