Description

The guide post at the south west corner of Cobbledicks Cottage dates from 1764. It is made of granite and features a rectangular shape with a tapered section and a rounded head. The post is inscribed in upper case serif lettering that reads 'WHEEL ROAD TO CALLN'. Below the inscription, there is a rusticated panel. This guide post has been resited in or near its original position along the old turnpike road that ran through the hamlet of Newbridge. The turnpike act for the roads leading into Callington was established in 1764.
