Description
No. 6 West Street is a town house, now used as an office, built in 1865. It features a polychrome masonry front with a granite plinth, coping, and freestone dressings. The first floor has slate hanging on the right-hand return and rear, and the roof is hipped with Delabole slate, topped with a modillion cornice. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with a two-window range. It includes horned sash windows, with stop-chamfered surrounds on the first-floor windows; the left window is mullioned and tripartite. There is an impost string that connects to segmental hoodmoulds over the ground-floor openings, which are in chamfered segmental-arched reveals. The ground floor features a window with stepped round-arched lights and columns attached to the mullions, along with a six-panel door that has a two-pane overlight. At the rear, there are two four-pane sashes above two two-pane sashes. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. This building is included for its group value.
